Tour description
Medieval tour that will begin with a visit to the beautiful city of Viterbo and will continue with Orvieto. After a “dip” in the past you can relax and eat in a fabulous location located near Orte, which will truly leave you breathless. The duration of the tour is 12 hours, with departure from Rome scheduled for 07.30 am
First Step
VITERBO , called the city of the Popes, in memory of the period in which the papal seat was moved to this city. Capital of ancient Etruscan origin and great historical traditions, you can visit the “Place of Popes” with its Loggia and the hall of the Conclave, where audiences were held to elect the Popes. The Cathedral, characterized by the two-colored bell tower and the ancient Baroque apse. The Museo del Colle del Duomo, with the archaeological works of Viterbo and Tuscia and the historical-artistic testimonies and the treasure of the Popes. San Pellegrino, a medieval district where you can get lost among the “Profferli” the famous external staircases, bridge houses and tower-houses. But the Place of the Priori with the frescoes in the Chapel of the Palace, the church and monastery of Santa Rosa, the small church of San Silvestro and the church of Santa Maria Nuova (the most beautiful in Viterbo) are also worth a visit.
Second Step
ORVIETO, museum city, with almost three thousand years of history that will fascinate and conquer you. Walking through the evocative streets of the historic center you will still find shops and artisan shops where the great tradition in the processing of artistic ceramics and Irish lace stands out together with goldsmiths, leather and wood craftsmen.
Third Step
